Hacienda Skilled Nursing Facility

Arizona’s first skilled nursing facility for infants, children, teens and young adults cares for medically fragile patients who require frequent skilled nursing and respiratory interventions. Hacienda Nursing facility comes from a long tradition of excellence in pediatrics and young adult care. For over 30 years our sister facility, Hacienda has been an esteemed Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR) serving children, teens and young adults. Our parent company, Hacienda HealthCare, has been in the forefront in recognizing special and unmet needs and providing services for the pediatric and young adult community. We developed Hacienda Nursing Facility for those younger individuals who required a skilled nursing facility level of care, but still needed the level of social activity of a typical young person.

Our staff consists of highly skilled and specialized Nurses, Respiratory Therapists and Certified Nursing Assistants. All members of our staff have undergone strict screenings and extensive training to ensure excellence and the highest quality of care.

We provide 24-hour nursing, and respiratory care, including intravenous therapy, gastrostomy and nasogastric tube feedings, plus oxygen administration and ventilator management. Each resident is thoroughly evaluated on an individual basis. Physical, occupational and speech therapies are available from our trained staff. On campus, just a few steps away from the main facility is "Angel House," a one bedroom apartment, providing a place for families to stay while receiving home care training or visiting from out of town.

Located at the base of beautiful South Mountain, our newly designed facility features spacious rooms, semi-private bathrooms and a day room that opens to a courtyard and garden.

Hacienda Skilled Nursing Facility Building Dedication Event!

The Hacienda Skilled Nursing Facility Building Dedication was held on November 8 at 3 p.m. The celebration was held at Hacienda located at 1402 E. South Mountain Avenue, in Phoenix. We celebrated over six years as Arizona’s first and still only, skilled nursing facility for infants, children and young adults as we prepared to move into our beautiful new building which will allow us to provide care for more patients.

Founded in 1967 as Hacienda de los Angeles, a single facility serving three children, Hacienda has continued to expand to meet the needs of the ever-increasing numbers of infants, children and young adults who require the high level of medical and habilitation care offered by the organization. Today, Hacienda is Arizona’s leading provider of specialized health care and social services to infants, children and young adults who have medical, physical and intellectual impairments. Hacienda’s comprehensive service system is capable of meeting the habilitation, restorative and long-term needs of individuals who are victims of genetic disorders, birth trauma, accidents, physical abuse and debilitating or life threatening diseases. Many of the children in our community are born with or develop chronic medical problems that require lifelong intervention by physicians, nurses and therapists. When these children are unable to reside at home or in a foster home, they are placed in a nursing home/skilled nursing facility. Due to the fact these nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities are designed, operated and staffed to care for elderly patients, children do not receive the care they need and deserve. These children need to be cared for in a setting that is specially designed, managed, and staffed to meet the medical, therapeutic, social and educational needs of children. Services and programs support infants, children and young adults with the average age being 16. To meet this community need, Hacienda opened Arizona’s first and only Skilled Nursing Facility for children in 2000.

Currently, the need for our care and services is growing in Arizona and due to lack of space in our current facility, accommodating referrals has become problematic. To ensure we are able to help these families and their children, our Board of Directors approved a plan to construct a new skilled nursing facility to be built on the Hacienda campus. In doing so, we will be able to increase the number of beds we have available for patients who require care in our skilled nursing facility.

Thank you for supporting our special cause!
